A three-way discussion with Tourisme Charlevoix, Tourisme Catalogne, and the City of Quebec, which has applied to become a Biosphere Region with the Canadian Commission for UNESCO. Based on concrete initiatives in Charlevoix and actions presented by Catalonia to preserve its landscapes and better balance tourism, communities, and the environment, the discussion will focus on a shared ambition: to make tourism a lever for protecting the territory and the environment.

Tourisme Charlevoix

Claudia Villeneuve est détentrice d’un baccalauréat en relations industrielles et cumule plus d'une quinzaine d'année d'expérience en développement territorial dans Charlevoix auprès d’organisations telles que la Société d’aide au développement de la collectivité (SADC). Aujourd’hui gestionnaire du développement au sein de Tourisme Charlevoix, elle vise à faire évoluer le tourisme de façon responsable, cohérente et durable au quotidien. Elle perçoit l'industrie touristique comme un puissant levier de développement pour les communautés, qui s'appuie sur un fragile équilibre entre attractivité, retombées économiques et respect du milieu.

Patrick Torrent Queralt

Patrick Torrent holds a degree in Industrial Psychology for Organizations from the University of Barcelona and a Bachelor's degree in Law from the UNED. He has training in Marketing Management from ESADE and in Information Systems Management from Master Associates. From 2005 to 2009, he was Deputy Director General of Consorci Turisme de Catalunya and Deputy Director of the Catalan Tourist Board from 2010, when it was created, until 2013. He is currently Executive Director of the Catalan Tourist Board. He has participated actively in the creation of the new Catalan Tourist Board and stimulated the definition of three Strategic Plans of Tourism in Catalonia. He has also coordinated the two Tourism Marketing Plans of Catalonia. He has been Associate Teacher at different universities and speaker and organizer of several symposiums, seminars, workshops, and forums focused on tourism and its marketing. Since 2015, Mr. Torrent has represented Catalonia at NECSTouR. From 2015 to 2021, he held the Presidency and currently holds the Vice-Presidency of this network that brings together 41 Regional Tourism Authorities and 30 partner organizations.
