Espace La Rive: Meaning, Impact, and Connection 1. Creating Places to Travel Without Leaving “We created Espace La Rive so that tourists can experience our region while connecting with the people who live here.” 2. Building Without Colonizing “We believe that a local project can create economic, social, and cultural value without distorting its environment; and thus, that tourism can benefit the region.” 3. Stepping Up When the Conditions Are Right for Change “In an era of degrowth, talking about development may seem paradoxical. Yet Espace La Rive stands as a human and concrete response.”

Espace La Rive

Simon Galarneau is an entrepreneur, artist, and designer. He is the co-founder of Repère Boréal, a nature-based hotel in Les Éboulements, and chairman of the board of directors of Espace La Rive, a cultural venue located along the river. A native of Charlevoix, Simon lived in Quebec City and Montreal before traveling the world, drawing inspiration from architecture, design, landscapes, and cultures. These explorations shaped his mission: to create spaces that tell a story and seek to reconcile aesthetics, sustainability, and meaning. Involved in several projects and boards of directors—including Festif! in Baie-Saint-Paul and Espace La Rive—he deeply believes in the power of collective projects to transform communities in a positive way. For him, entrepreneurship is, above all, a way of engaging with the world through respect and creativity.
